Splash - to answer your question about Rolland Martin, I guess I might be referring to older episodes, where he would upstage/talk over the guide and/or other guests sorta how charlie does. Just seemed a little pushy to me. In his ripe ol age, he does seem to do it less. I will agree that his show does keep it real by fishing local water and fishing more than just bass, and is probally why I do watch him from time to time. Im more of a In-Fisherman/midwest outdoors kinda guy, but heck I will pretty much watch anything fishing related.

He is a talker, but I think I know why. Ever seen an episode with his wife on it? She never shuts up. Only time he can talk is when he is away from her ;D

CP, he's been dead for awhile. But yes, back in the day his show turned into all politics and not much action. But since you brought up the pbs shows. How about Great lakes outdoors with Rob trott? Years ago the show wasn't too bad, but afer he added that white trash bar hooker to the show I can't watch, she is so annoying! Then there is Michigan out of doors- seems to have fallen off in the past year or so also. Kye Randall's show- by far the best when it comes to outdoor action, but the guy has that stupid giggle after everything he says. The guy is a good hunter and fisherman though. Can't believe nobody has brought up Tred Barta yet?

I know he's been dead. His son did the show for a while after did he? They were both idiots.
Michigan Outdoors is a pretty good show.
I cant stand Kyle Randall! His laugh is unbelieveably anoying! Shaggy was on his show a few years ago. They did a youth deer hunt together.
I used to watch Tred Barta allt he time just because I love to laugh at him. The las time I saw him on TV he was in a wheelhair. I think itwas permanent. Anyone know what happened to him?

Very freak what happened to him. He was about to leave home for a hunt when he started having weakness in his legs. Long story short, he had a spinal stroke. Very rare, but what happens is irreversible. He has no feeling or control below the chest. Nothing you can prevent or Doctors can predict will happen either. I like Tred, say what you say about his thoughts and mouth, but in a day where atleast 50% of outdoor shows is sponsorship driven, it was refreshing to see him hunt with a homemade long bow. While we see thousands of commercials for Mathews bows which we all know we don't need to pay that money for to kill deer, he'd have a segment on practicing with his long bow. When on other shows we see commercials for the latest and greatest overpriced/hyped Carbon arrow, Tred would have a segment in his workshop making his own cedar arrows. When another show has Benelli and Beretta commercials sporting thousands of dollars worth of shotguns, Tred was flinging arrows in the sky at pheasants, ducks, and geese. Anyone can practice with a top of the line rifle and shoot free top of the line ammo, to Alaska and drop a moose at close range or go out west and drop coyotes at 400 yards, but Tred would go out day after day with his stick and string. For that, I commend him.

i dont like tred at all but i wasnt gonna be the one who said they dislike a cripple the most...... although i watched him shoot a 4 point with a longbow, not many people would have killed a small deer... but barta says that anything that you legally take is a trophy..... so that made me like him more...... as for troast..... he was a violater got popped a few times and they let him keep his show.... kinda gave our sport a black eye for a while......
