The next melon trellis I eluded to is this- find an old kids swingset. Always some by the road in the spring. Take the swings and everything else off so you have just the frame. Attach fencing to both sides so you have an A frame. Plant your melon plants on the outsides of the fencing, this way you can walk inside to tie up your melons when they need supporting. Cheap and easy. You can also plant greens like spinach and lettuce later in the season in the middle of the swingset. They don't like direct sun when its hot so you can shade them with the leaves of the melon plants.
