Decided to try corn this year. I chose Silver Queen because I have heard many good things about it on garden forums. It is a 90 day variety (so in Michigan means more like 100) that is white. For a rookie, white wasn't the best route to go because one of the ways to tell when sweet corn is ready is by looking at the kernals to see if they are yellow and plump. With the help of the good people at www.thebayougardener.com, I was able to pick 3 decent ears today. Looks like I will have a few more in the next few days and then even more later. Looking forward to dinner tonight to see if they taste great or if I waited a little long to pick.

Success! It tasted great. I highly suggest growing this variety. Only problem was the ears were so long they didn't fit in those little corn trofts you put the butter in. ;D
