I like smoked salmon myself, good stuff. I have not tried smoked steelhead yet.

I've tried and tried to like it, to me there aint much of a difference from smoked steelies to salmon. I always give a few fish to gramps every year to smoke cause he likes em, and he always gives me 2 back, i give em away, other people love it just not me. I've had it homemade, and store bought, both ways to me are too fishy, reason why I let most of my fish go, as long as gramps is still kicking i'll just keep a few for him and the uncles!

I have one steelie in the freezer destined for the smoker soon. ;D That will be my first smoked steelhead. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I don't mind having just 1 little piece of it, but not my top pick, I just never liked salmon or steelhead, have had people promise me that they could cook it so id love it, aint found that awesome piece yet....

You don't like them smoked, or you don't like them cooked any way? I love them on the grill too, or even baked.

Try it like this: Get a box of Zatarans crab cake mix, follow directions as necessary. Bake a salmon/steelie fillet for 10 minutes @ 400 F until thoroughly cooked then shred up fillet and mix into crab cake mix, replacing the crab meat. Pack into balls the size of hushpuppies and dip into egg. Batter the balls in some Drakes and deep fry them. Just did this over the weekend and MAN is it good! It's more of an appetizer and honestly you will barely taste the fish at that point!

Funny you say that swamp! My cousin SWORE up and down id love that recipe! The fishy taste still gets to me. Either way scout, im not a fan of em.

Swamp you should be scoopin up as many of those goldens as you possibly can! 4-6 inchers are the best pike bait there is. Freeze them in a bag of salt water so they dont freeze completely rock solid.

I love smoked trout and salmon,most any fish is good smoked.Woodeye family is my link to smoked fish and such......when did you say you were coming up again Woodeye? ;D
