Cooking BBQ chicken and lobster tails on the grill last night and 5 minutes into it ran out of propane. Man that ticks me off! I know the charcoal opinions are coming, I don't use it, I hate it.

I hate that the food always tastes like lighter fluid, even the pre soaked charcoal makes it taste like gas. tried one of them little tools you sit i nthe charcoal and it heats it up but it takes too long and I'm impatient.

Hahahaha. So do you wait longer by getting the charcoal going or having to run to the store to get your tank re filled?? lol. I've never tasted lighter fluid. Just have to let the coals burn down for a while til they are white. If you weren't so impatient, you may have checked the amount of gas in the tank.........

Dont use lighter fluid.... Dad has a grill that has a little propane tank that lights a fire under the charcoal, let that run for a bit until the charcoal is lit, then shut it off, let the coals get good an hot and get to grillin!

Or.....you could have a second tank on standby. That's what a good boyscout would do. :-*For me, running out just means a two minute delay. I like the propane fired charcoal lighter idea too. Is that built right into the grill Steelie?

I use hardly any lighter fluid, I use my portable propane torch to get the coals going. 15 minutes and they're white hot and ready to cook a 10 minute Delmonico ;D

Built right in Scout. Small propane tank like youd use in a Buddy Heater, hooked up to a valve, gas line runs into the bottom of the grill and hooks up to a metal peice that sits right until the charcoal, light er up, put the grate on, and stack up the coal. slicker than snot on a tree!

I prefer charcoal, but propane is so convenient. Here is what you do Troy............ Go buy a guage that fits on the tank that will tell you how much propane is in the tank. Problem solved. ;D
