Things are crowded in there. You can get away with it as long as you fertilize and water well.
As for your cukes............ They climb up almost anything. This is good so they go up instead of out and won't take as much ground space. Get some twine and make "crossbars" attached to the frame you already built. Twine will work good for the rest of the season and is smaller in diameter so the tendrils (thin things that grab on to things to enable it to climb) can wrap around to support the vines and fruit.

Here are some updated pics. It looks like the Cukes are doing great.  The cukes all turned right side up and started to climb. Also theres a ton of flowers on them now.   Bell peppers are all flowering now.  These are peas I think staring to bud.  I harvested another chili  |

The cukes are trellising nicely. Hey splash, how ya like my twisted hockey tape trellis. Free!   Baby Cukes   I pulled all the lettuce because it has all gotten to big and it got bitter tasting. i read that it might have been due to our high heat lately. BUT........ I planted some artichokes in their spots.  Oh yea I have a baby pepper now as well. He will be orange when all is said and done.  Zukes are nuts  Harvested some yum yums for tonights meal.  This is my favorite plant. It is called a wandering jew.  Not in the garden but I had to rip out some dumb planter the previous owner had a rock garden in. The grass is coming in now.  |

I like the trellis, cukes look healthy. I will post pics tomorrow of what this mornings storm did to my gardens. Not very happy

Yea the storms only pulled some of my cages up and leaned them over but no damage per sae.

AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Japanese beatles on the cukes!
I went to the store and got a trap. Going to try and knock these bastards out.
ALSO:
I bought 2 bags of 1-1-1 manure compost and hilled up around the base of all the plants. Gave them a good soak as well.
Hoping this heat will not hurt them to much.

I've had to keep emptying my trap. Killed atleast 1,000 of them so far. They are on your cukes because you don't have corn, they love corn leaves, beans too.
As for the 1-1-1, read the "manure" thread. You just bought dirt.
Keeping everything watered is the most important thing you can do during heat like this.

Time for an update! My cukes are getting big.  This is my neighbors puny Zuke plant, and my cute kid.  I pulled my onions out of the clumps in the corners, separated them and planted them in rows. I have no idea if this will work, but if it doesent then at least ill know more for next year.  YUM! My first yellow squash.  The view from my back walkout. Gardens on the left.  |
