I don't know how they managed to do this but we worked our way to the mouth of the manistee on lake michigan while salmon fishing over the weekend and came across this. I would imagine they set out to do some fishing dark and early saturday morning and thought they were clear of the pier. Instead they smashed into the concrete. And then Sunday while fishing Manistee lake, here comes the sheriff, tow boat and the damaged boat getting towed to the south side of Manistee lake. Note the large air pillows in the front of the boat keeping the damaged portion of the hull out of the water. i hope no one was seriously injured and what a terrible beginning and quick ending to a fishing trip.

That type of incident happens more than you think. In the 90's I saw it twice in Ludington. With how inexpensive gps is these days, I'm surprised it still happens.

I did get word of that report from my buddy's friend that lives up that way. That must have been a horrible impact. Hopefully those two recover.

Cp, what I don't understand is this boat DID! REALLY? I was out with my uncle one time out of Manistee and it was un-godly fogy while we were fishing a tournament. The only thing that saved us from hitting the pier on our way in was his radar. We came within FEET! Hard to explain why they hit, Fobbit could be right. Ive fished a bunch of tournaments where "they" started drinking right after cast off.
